The CalproSmart RUO self-test is a rapid test designed for the remote monitoring of inflammation in the gut, mainly in research and drug development of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This test allows researchers to monitor Calprotectin levels, an inflammatory biomarker, at regular intervals or as needed, while removing the need for the patient to send in fecal samples, thus increasing the number of data points. The test is intended for both screening and trial.
In IBD, studies indicate that Calprotectin levels can begin to rise 3-6 months before clinical symptoms are observed, providing an opportunity to detect and study flare-ups at sub-clinical stages.
The test employs lateral flow immunoassay principles and integrates with app-based technology on mobile phones (Android and iOS), offering a step-by-step guide to obtain quantitative results. The test range is 77-1500 mg/kg. The RUO product further allows for blinded or double-blinded data collection.
Data can either be stored in the web portal or exported to other systems through APIs. The system can also be integrated into third-party host apps through DeepLink integration, in which case, data is not stored in the CalproSmart web portal at all.
The test is available as a single pack test, product code CAL201RUO.
